How often do menu options actually change?

'Please listen closely because our menu options have recently changed.'
Are all of the organizations I call actually telling the truth? Did they all change their options at the same time right before I called?

We have vendors whose menu options recently changed 15 years ago.

Just start speaking gibberish and they'll assume you are a non-English speaking person who needs assistance, and then you'll bypass the menu foolishness.

Some systems have it set up where 0 just brings you back to the main menu
