At 25 working offshore in the geophysics business, single no kids sharing an apartment in the Quarter with my brother who worked overseas mostly and was rarely there, a fortune to me in the 70’s.

Spent 20% or 25% monthly and saved the rest.

Log into your Social Security account it has a section that lists your income by year.

Very enlightening.
