Currently living in my van right now, boomers have priced me out of the market.

I got rid of a shite load during the last hazardous waste collection day.
This is what I do. I keep a spreadsheet with exterior and interior colors, but I hate having paint cans around other than a few I typically use for woodworking projects.

I’m guessing about 20 gallons of paint and 15 pints of stain in my garage. Furk.
I’ve got about 15 partial gallons dating back to 2 houses ago. So if I ever het the urge to touch up the kitchen of a house I no longer live in, I’m all set!
I also have two cans of Kilz and a variety of color stains and a pint of pickling paint.
Oddly - I have zero semi-gloss white trim paint which is the only paint I actually need right now.

There was a time when I probably had 20 gallon cans and even a few 5 gallon buckets in my garage. I unloaded all of the during the hazardous waste collection.

I make an annual trip to a Dow sponsored hazardous waste collection day to to have Dow dispose of these types of materials which, in most instances, are ILLEGAL to dispose of in regular garbage or trash pickups. Particularly convenient for things like old tires or old, no longer safe to use, propane tanks/bottles.

I realized the other day after keeping 20 cans of now-dried up paint, that the places we bought them from have what we bought stored in our account history.

That stuff probably has broken down by now.
It’s not really for reuse. There’s a deep seated fear that if we ever need to paint over a spot, we’ll forget what color was used.
This fear is typically realized months, maybe years after painting. This, along with the last thing anyone wants to do amidst a painting job is manually recording every color used for such a day, results in cans stashed away where they are forgotten for years.
