Just renewed mine online here in Virginia and for 1 year it is $45. Virginia also has a yearly personal property tax which is based on the value of your vehicle.

GA has some ridicules tax. Still got the TN plates even though I've lived here for 3 years. For both my vehicles it would cost around $3400 to switch over. frick that.

Mississippi is based on vehicle value. A $26000 car will run upwards of $600. It goes down every year. My '06 Ridgline was $57 this year, $31 of that was for my Delta Waterfowl plate.

It's $20 dollars per yr in GA. I don't know what they charge carpetbaggers but we pay 7% sales tax on a vehicle purchase and $20 per yr tag fee/registration.
