Umbrellas are honestly the cheapest insurance you can buy.

The old adage about the crack in the sidewalk being 1" wide but 20' deep applies here.

You won’t qualify for umbrella with basic coverage so it’s premium coverage then umbrella which is costly

Define costly. Someone with millions in assets doesn't mind paying a few hundred a month. Having 250/500/100 costs me about 160/month in one of the most expensive states in the country. My 2 million Umbrella costs me 100/month.

If something happens, that's all I'm out of pocket. Not having the coverage is considerably more costly, and I see it daily.

Financial literacy should be a primary focus of education, but here we are. Buying a 100k sports car and complaining about insurance being expensive,

$100/$300/$100 liability coverage plus collision and comp. Also used to carry a $1 million umbrella policy when I was traveling full time for work as a precaution.
