2500ft square and I have a 5 ton trane (after flood).

Its currently set at 70 and my house is fricking 78.

I just put a new evaporator coil in for 1k and I have also added 2 additional intakes and I'm still fricking dying of heat.

I'm at a loss other than add an additional unit.

ACs are supposed to handle a 20 degree difference.

Mine was set to 74 today but got to 77. Temp outside was 96.

Looking forward to sub 90 temps and all should be good.

AC runs constantly from noon through midnight or later. We keep it 73 and I guess I’m lucky that it’s gotten up to 75. Doesn’t help that the dipshit who installed the AC in the house didn’t get any of the numbers right. frick this hot weather.

Currently living in a rental that doesn’t have insulation. Central runs all day along with 2 window units. The two window units help keep it around 80 during the day. Gets down to 72 by about 11pm. Entergy bill in the summer stays at $250+

Sounds like you need to look at your insulation and ductwork.

Nah that’s bullshite. The air condition will put out roughly 18-20 degrees of what is going into the intake if it is operating property. The condition of your ductwork, insulation, size of ac, etc will determine how cool your house gets.

No it’s not. The ac if working properly will output air roughly 18-20 degrees cooler than what is going into the intake. That has nothing to do with the outside temp. If that was the case everyone’s house and store would be 80+ inside.

It’s the standard

Some units perform better or different than others depending on the type of house, size, age and ac system

Pre covid I changed out both units to High efficiency variable speed units.
Me too, and one of them is already not working properly.
