According to the CDC, the average age of a COVID-19 fatality in the US is 80. Meaning over half of the deaths from COVID have been over the age of 80.

This is harsh, but I don’t think in the long run shutting down the economy with these lockdowns is going to be worth saving your PapPaw and GamGam.

The IFR is between 0.5% and 1%. If everyone in the USA caught COVID (not gonna happen) the deaths would be between 1,600,000 and 3,280,000. But you say we will have that many per year.

Pandemic and fatalities have nothing to do with each other. Zero people can die in a pandemic. All that means it that it is a disease spread over a large geographic area.
