I got there 1:45 minutes before a 6:20a flight and missed it. Had to check a couple bags and standard TSA.
Worst TSA experience I’ve ever had. Complete shite show and the line was out of the ropes by 5:30a already.

Precheck is one thing govt actually got right, and it's worth every penny even if you don't fly all that often. Fly once a year and it's still worth it.

This is exactly why I planned on arriving at least 2 hours early

Missed our flight by like 4 minutes.
If it’s a 1st thing in the morning flight I’d recommend 2 hours at a minimum. If you’re traveling without family and without checked bags maybe you can shave 15 minutes off of that. Just not worth starting your day having to rush so much like we did.
In general I think the 2 hour rule is asinine, but for early AM flights and regular TSA, I’d strongly recommend it out of MSY.

i almost missed a flight getting there an hour early recently. i'm usually through security in 20 minutes though.
