I'm old and I've never been particularly cool. Subsequently, I'm not ashamed to admit that the whole "triggered(!)" thing is something I'm not really up to speed with.
I may, or may not, be triggered and may not even know it.

To me "triggered" is a ridiculous buzzword for the little special snowflakes who are easily offended by life.
Feminist are most often triggered and want special warnings when people write things so that they do not read anything that may "trigger" them. Then they want special treatment for being triggered
I am female and I hate those dumbass feminists with a passion.
Hey, you want me to make you a sammich? I make damn good sammiches.
also, I love your name. White Roach was my nickname as a child because my hair was so blonde.

Oh, look! Someone else that tries to pass off pretension as moral and intellectual superiority...

We are addicted to being offended.

This is what happens when you cave to irrational group-think. Once that happens every sheep that has a thought enter their mind has precedent to go off of.

It's kind of fun how people are going around looking for things that offend people. And how others are looking to be offended at the fact that other people are offended by things.
I just read the linked article. They cite a total of 2 people. And neither one of them want to have the symbol removed.
I'm sure there are (very small numbers of) people out there that are offended by things like say snails or laws against cannibalism or by t-shirts. Probably every thing you can think off offends at least a couple of people somewhere. It's just that news organizations don't go out of their way to find them and people on message boards don't spend tons of time discussing them.

I don't think you read the entire article closely.
The historian cited about it being a bad symbol also had this to say at the bottom:
It's amazing, how as someone mentioned in a MSB thread yesterday, that no one seems to ever get to that part of the article.

Due to this fact, Seck also believes it shouldn’t be taken down as it is now embraced as a symbol of unity.

Only on the OT will you have dumb asses who will bitch and moan because the assume that every black is out on some kind of witch hunt to remove every thing that has ties to slavery. It is well known and been known that slaves were marked with the fluer de lis, but who gives a shite. So many of my friends have fluer de lis tats black and white and they could not care any less about its historical use.
I swear y'all just look for shite to be offended by just as much as the FEW black people who find shite to be offended by. It is a never ending cycle.

I see that this Fleur de Lis thing is going over everybody's head.
I'll give you a hint: if you want to save confederate memorials in New Orleans, petition Mitch to remove the Fleur de Lis. What will be his response, and what will be the outcome of that response as it pertains to confederate memorials?

Redneck whites seem to be the most offended.
Not sure how you came to this conclusion. Most of us are just tired of hearing the words "......is offensive"

My man, no reason to even cite a source because it shouldn't matter. The vocal minority is out to destroy America as we know it, regardless of facts.

Do you believe the removal of these historical symbols will make for a safer environment in New Orleans?

As long as they don't make me take down my swastika flag.
