If neutering is done prior to adulthood, the scrotum will shrink to near nothing. The older the pet, the more scrotum will remain after neutering since the tissue has stretched. The surgery involves a pre-scrotal incision, i.e. the scrotum is not opened. A scrotal ablation (removal) can be done if requested but is more costly.
