for instance, if you spent a large (whatever that might be for you) amount of money on clothes or shoes at a clothing or shoe retailer, how long before you toss that receipt?

based upon their return policy? or do you keep in case you have a defect outside of their return policy (in the hope they take care of it for you)?

cleaning up and i am getting stuck.

Take a pic of the receipt then email it to myself with “Receipt” plus the item type or name or whatever.

Outlook sorting rules put it in my Receipt folder. Throw the paper away.

Delete the pic afterwards.

Major purchases are scanned, if they are not already an e-receipt.

Everything else about 7 years, filed away by year. Audit reasons.

I usually throw mine out about a week or two before I need them.

Throw it away as I'm walking out the door.

I think we dated. Do you also have a white board with a check list of things to do daily/weekly/monthly?

As soon as I try on the clothes and they fit / look good.

Major purchase: scanned and uploaded to the computer.

All other purchases: about 9 seconds until I can find the trash can

I have a file cabinet, we put all major things in there. we just got it about a year ago, so everything in it is relatively new. I figure we will go through it whenever we move, whether that is in a year or 30 years
