Happiness is overrated. I do my duties

Honest answer: I've never been happy and don't know what I would do with happiness if I found it. My baseline is a lifelong low grade depression which life circumstances occasionally cause to flare up into a major episode. Meds and therapy keep me functional most days and that's all I ask for or expect.

2 or 3. And I have everything going for me. I just hate everything.

I’m a happy person, and I don’t have to work for it. WTF are you talking about?

People are not their emotions. Someone can feel happiness, but are not happy in themselves. In the negative scenario people adopt feelings of sadness as identities, I am sad, I am depressed, and can create depressive episodes.

I know what you do for a living and I'm telling you: Stop
Enjoy the rest of your life.

I'd say an 8...have an amazing loving wife and a 3 year old who is honestly a great kid! I have a really high level good paying job and am able to support my family basically single handedly on it in our home in a great part of town...my kid goes to a good school all that.
My issue is the stress that comes with all of the above often precludes me from enjoying said happiness. 8-5 at a C suite job then coming home to a toddler who is on his last overtired leg is a lot. I have it great, but man do I struggle to sit back and realize/bask in it.

It's all about counting your blessings and practicing an attitude of gratitude.
