Unless you get LDL particles tested, your results don't mean anything.

Cut out carbs in your diet and you'll see a drop in LDL and a gain in HDL.

Right by my arteries (carotid) are what. 60yo would have. I'm almost 47. Statins she said would help immensely.

And i don't have the report with me (I'm out of town) but the testing said I had small, sticky cholesterol and it's mainly from my body producing it as opposed to diet. In other words, heredity. And I have no clue how the lab tests can tell some of what it tells.
Done through Boston Heart Diagnostics.

I've seen serum that is milk white from triglycerides, and the cholesterol wasn't good. My first attack happened at chol 220- ldl -105. Exercise and strict diet got it down to 212 ldl - 100. almost within error of the instruments. the new meds got everything down a lot

Particle size matters. This is measured using an NMR study. Most cholesterol studies only measure total LDL which does not tell the complete story (see example below)
HDL and triglycerides are also very important in deciphering the story
Example:
I would be much more worried about the guy with a normal LDL on standard panel (who may have a predominance of small particles), and low HDL , high triglycerides
Vs
The guy with higher LDL of larger, fluffy size with high HDL and low triglycerides (this can be typical of people on low carb, high fat diets. See last image, pink bars listed as Westman low CHO and note the slight rise in LDL, but improvement across the board in all other metabolic parameters)
Context is needed when looking at these markers. I worry for people who look at 1 item and focus on it. This can be a very short sighted approach. Make sure you have your eye on the correct ball(s)...

I sell one of the new LDL lowering meds which are so much better than statins.
Which class? So much better than statins at what? Primary/secondary prevention of ASCVD-related events? Deaths? LDL-lowering potential?
There are currently no medicines available to my knowledge that are "so much better" than statins, specifically high-dose ones, regarding deaths due to ASCVD unless the PCSK-9 data has come out (finally) and is much more groundbreaking than expected. Even then, I think they are statistically significantly better, but only marginally so in the selected population.
There's plenty better than statins at LDL and triglyceride reduction, though.

I think you mean lipoprotein is comprised of fat and protein.

How does one go about getting this type of analysis done?

independent labs. you can google "nmr lipoprofile [city name]" without the quotation marks and some labs should pop up. call them and see if they offer it.
i've been meaning to do it myself.

30 days ago mine was, 224;LDL 172;Triglycerides 240
Today I am at 97, 51 and 79
Had a heart attack and went total plant based with no oils.
My concern now is getting my HDL up as it is only at 23
