Are they trained

Literally every single person you meet when in uniform could be your last interaction on Earth...

You shouldn’t talk to or deal with, a policeman any differently than you would anyone else that you meet in a business setting.

Do these people in business settings demand that you take your hands out of your pockets for their safety, though you've done nothing wrong?

I don't deal with the cops much, but I've always found if you are respectful, they are.

With that said, I have a neighbor who is a cop who is a massive douche. He's the one who fights HOA rules. I would not want to run into him on the job.

It’s never just an academy and you’re off to the race of retirement. Departments are up your arse nonstop with learning and training.

Not exactly. There’s a vast difference in how different departments operate.

I know a fair number of officers, some from larger departments, some from tiny departments. I can assure you Charleston City Police holds their officers to a higher standard than the Bonneau Police Department.

Friend of my son graduated from the Academy, his class started a pool to guess which graduate would be involved in a shooting first. They pretty much all picked the same couple of guys as the best bet.

The more assholes you deal with, the harder you become.

Despite all the effort, someone will always find fault in what we do. It’s the nature of enforcing the law and holding people accountable.

cops are in general, undereducated, dense assholes, I rarely interact with them because I’m not a tPOS, I did have a rare, unusual, and surprising encounter a few weeks ago, driving home from Fl, into Al, raining, three lane highway, heavy traffic, I could see a cop car weaving in and out of traffic and flashing his overhead lights on and off, after a few minutes he pulled along side me and flashed “sidelights,” I’d never seen that before, heavy rain, limited vis, I paid no attention and kept going, he then slowed down and got behind me and turned on everything, when he came up he asked didn’t I see the flashing lights? yes, but you kept changing lanes, didn’t I see the sidelights? never seen that before but every vehicle and its mama has some sort of “emergency” lighting on it now and I’m not stopping on a rainy night on the interstate in bfe Al just because some yahoo went to car toys and bought a light kit, he said the speed limit in my county is…. and that was it

My gramps, who was a patrolman who worked his way up to chief, told my dad when dad was a kid that no matter what, even if you were Jesus’ actual little brother, that if you put that badge on, people were going to deem you a son of bitch no matter how fair and how well you did your job. Dad also shared with me that gramps said that most often the real enemy of cops are not the shitbirds on the street, but their own fellow officers, trying to frick each other over.
