Actually, that would be a retractor beam. Which would draw the spaceship towards the larger object.
In the case of the tractor beam, the object actually remains stationary (which is why the prefix of re is dropped) while the larger object keeps moving.
It’s a common misconception that the Corellian Corvette was drawn towards the Star Destroyer. It actually remains in place while the Star Destroyer moves towards it.
