You best have some hip mobility/flexibility.

If you aren’t easily handling a double black diamond by day 3 you’re a pussy

Does it help any if you can water ski? I’ve never snow skied but I can slalom ski and feel like snow skiing would be easier to learn than dropping a ski to slalom behind a 400hp boat

I find no correlation. I started snnow skiing at age 4, and have been skiing for nearly 50 years. I spent my teenage years with a boat and camp at False River.
The skills hardly have anything in common.

Snow skiing is probably my second favorite thing to do.
I’ve broken in many beginners. My rule of thumb is that it takes about 3 days to be comfortable enough that you are truly enjoying yourself.
A half day private lesson the first day is my recommendation.

I feel like it's easier if you cross country ski first. Get used to just being on the skis and getting up.
The balance and the lean is the hardest part. Stick to gentle slopes on your first trip.
It's a lot harder on the muscles than it looks.
