If I had to travel for business frequently I would not like ATL.
ATL needs another airport in the city badly. Delta and their bought and paid for politicians squashed a private airport in the North part of the city that would have helped tremendously.
Oh ATL is impressive but time is the issue. Who wants to take 45-60 minutes to get from the parking lot to the gate!!
IAH and Hobby are quicker to get in and out of as a resident than ATL.

i pretty much have that in Atlanta. But my "anywhere I want" is within a narrow circumference, and I never have to drive in rush hourS.
Yeah that's how it was when I lived in Dallas.
But now I can get literally anywhere in the city in 15 minutes. Airport, ballpark, work, golf course, bar area. Which are all in different parts.

Well in that case yeah I'd say buckhead would be a good spot.
i lived in b'head in early 2000s and greatly prefer where I am now--walk to Decatur square or Emory Village. 10 min drive to VaHi, Oakhurst, Kirkwood, O4W, etc. More laid back people. Less traffic. And you can live relatively safely for less than b'head prices. Of course, Yung Mazi was shot down half a mile from our house in Kirkwood (renting it out), but that area is booming regardless. we live sufficiently far from there I think. Hope.
I do hate Atlanta though and spend as much time out west as possible (and then push it further).

ATL is ghetto
Parts of it are, but Atlanta has really changed in the last decade. A white flood is going on and making it too expensive for the ghetto to spread out.

i Lyft/Uber or MARTA (or cash in favors for rides).
I dropped my mom off there today--30 min round trip.
but i agree otherwise. and MARTA sucks unless you happen to live in one of very few safe areas that are nearby. I can walk there through safe neighborhoods. it's less than 2 miles. drops you off IN the airport, which is nice.
but i travel mostly for pleasure.

Atlanta is 62% black. Is that all around the GA dome?
Do you think that all black people are ghetto? There is a large wealthy black population in Atlanta. An even larger middle class black population. Huge professional population.

Not for me, but it's apples to oranges really. Buford Highway is more of an international market than a farmers market.

Austin or Chattanooga?

I always make sure to fill up at Costco
Slightly off-topic, but I was doing some work in Panera Bread at Emory Village last week and this black guy comes in and asks the two black ladies sitting next to me for $2 for "gas." They say no, politely. He says, "I'm not asking any white people."
I wanted to wave a $20 at him and then say, oh I missed that last part, can you say again? But I avoid confrontation, except on the PT.
One of the women goes, "Oh, you're adorable." This was a grown damned man being a pathetic dick and that's adorable? She wasn't being sarcastic either.

Chattanooga. Austin would have been my answer 10-12 years ago. It's way too big now.

Hard to say. 10 years ago I would have said Atlanta with no hesitation. I have, however, really come to like Houston over the past year or two.

Sounds to me that the reason people are picking Atlanta in this thread is that the best thing it has going for it is that it's closer to other places they'd rather be instead of being in Atlanta
When both cities are pretty comparable that should absolutely play a factor. Do you think Houston is some sort of destination city?
Posted on 8/15/17 at 6:16 pm to gatorhata9
The obvious answer is to compromise and move to Dallas
Posted on 8/15/17 at 6:54 pm to RedRifle
I really don't know much about Houston.
I would pic ATL anyway for the mountains and beaches a few hours away in 2 directions
