I didn't say anything negative about your city hoss, just not in agreement with one poster who believes there good Cajun food here. There isn't. Plenty of other great places tho. Where's that Owlie emoji when I need it.
And Zydeco's is Soul Food, not Cajun. Great Soul Food tho.

And like i said, Holleys is midtown makes a mean gumbo. Chef used to be a head chef at commander's i think

I am not going to tell its god's gift to plate lunches but it is pretty good and in the heart of downtown. Hard to beat if you are in the area and want Cajun/soul food

Chimes really is not a Cajun restaurant. I love the chimes but something like t-boys is what I considered Cajun

Has oysters, poboys, gumbo, etouffee, boudin balls, blackened alligator, etc

I do not go to either but I think Pappadeaux putting dirty rice on crawfish etouffee is a bigger sin.

Couldn't agree more.
Weekend before last. We went to Laffy for Halloween. Our friends kept telling us all weekend about a Mexican place off of 49, not far where we were. They finally talked us into going drunkenly Saturday night.
Place was named Picante.
fricking disgusting. Queso was cheese from a jar. Crawfish étouffée with tiny unfrozen grey crawfish. Margaritas hardly had any tequila in it. Salsa was from a jar. About $15 a plate and it was hardly edible.
We walked out saying, "Houston has spoiled us as far as Mexican food goes"

Being from Houston has ruined me in Louisnana. Things like salsa and margaritas are done so poorly. people here think a margarita needs to be as sugary as a daiquiri
