quote:

Mary Edmond nervously smoked a cigarette while she watched community efforts Wednesday morning to find her 7-year-old son, believed to have been swept away in a drainage ditch during Tuesday afternoon's rain.

quote:

While watching the search unfold Wednesday, Edmond showed the numerous scratches on her legs, the result of her own trips into the ditch to try to find her son. “I think he’s in there. It’s dark, and he’s scared to come out,” she said. “Maybe if I can get in there, and he can hear my voice, he’ll come back out.”

Damn.

Prayers Little dude.

According to that link the coroner confirmed that the body that was found was the boy.

Terrible way to die. Sad.

yea, i've got locks on the backyard gates

not to keep people out, but to keep them in

AND the house next door to us has a pool but its vacant right now because the resident passed away. Her kids still use the pool but the gates that lead to it dont have locks

i found my 3 year old trying to open the gate because he saw the pool (rod iron gate) and wanted to go swimming

i put combination locks on their gates too

so much of parenting is just keeping your kids from killing themselves

It seems they found the body

At least they got some closure. The quote in the OP by the mom saying he was in there and scared to come out is heartbreaking.

quote:

The body of a child missing since heavy rain fell the early afternoon of Tuesday was found this morning in a ditch in southwest Shreveport about two miles from where he was last seen alive, the Caddo coroner has confirmed.
