Honkus Im sure you will share more detail later but how miserable was that flight back to the states being in a cargo plane with no windows and normality on being on a international flight?
Posted on 2/7/20 at 12:28 am to NickyT
It definitely took some adjustment.
But there was actually a little more room to walk around than your typical commercial flight, so that part was nice. And there were a few small windows you could peak out if you got really claustrophobic.
We were lucky too as lil-baw slept nearly the first 8 hours, allowing one of us to focus on the baby-baw and other to sleep. Who I am kidding.. actually I didnt sleep a wink but P got some rest.
Here's what it looked like boarding -
(Sorry for the portrait mode
)
It was kinda freaky climbing those stairs, and being met by 2 guys in full hazmat gear, with the plastic sheets hanging. Felt like I was walking into one of Dexter's kill rooms

I've fallen behind on this thread... though unlike some douchebags I'm good with whatever is going on. (Why did it get unpinned?)
Awesome to see the GFM is almost fully funded. I saw the work post...FWIW, keep the PTO and use the funds to fill in any gaps caused by the situation. Thankfully we live in a country where FMLA protects you no matter what you choose. I've had 2 boys who each spent weeks in NICU and we went the FMLA/save PTO route. With your two little ones you will regret not having that PTO this summer. (Hopefully the airlines will do the right thing and waive any change fees/fair differences for your voyage home.)
FNC was interviewing the pro football player in your quarantine group. The picture of the "Super Bowl Party" looked ghetto AF. Glad they got y'all pizza and wings but they couldn't do something better than a 50"ish TV strapped to the table? Here's hoping you're out next week. We have a large Asian group of college students here (big computer sciences university) and as I feared they suspect someone brought it into the community and infected an kid in the community.
Oh and if your neighbors gossip about Ping tell them to frick off in your least polite tone. Unreal that even after the public outcry left you there for the full 2 weeks that they still bitch about the 4 of you going to your home.

No the super bowl party was okay. Definitely not complaining bc they didnt have to do anything for us. It was great to have a little different food (getting really sick of the main food vendor their using, same food rotation every 2 days
), and being able to drink a couple beers was a pleasant surprise.
Only complaint I have is they had 2 TVs set up, 2 ROKUs, 1 speaker, and the TVs were offset most of the night. Like bad offset, like 10-15 seconds. You're forced to either watch it "live" on one TV with no sound the other , or watch TV #2 and ignore all the cheers/reactions from TV#1 15 seconds before. It was just a tech issue synching them up but I last about a series and a half before grabbing a bunch of food, topping off my bud light and watching in my room.
Definitley going the FMLA route with 2 small kids. Sick time and all that. Not counting on a vacation this year but if things work out will try to sneak down for a football game this fall
Damn, been through that twice? God bless hope they are both fully healthy and thriving lil dawgs now

Did you hit any trailer hitches over there?

Nice callback, lewdawg. We've all come a long way from our gaming board meet up days, I hope.
Cant thank you enough for putting this thread together
if you dont mind, you can take the GFM info out of the title/OP. Based on the costs of our flights home I think we will be covered and I dont feel the need to keep advertising it here. Thanks again to everyone who pitched in. P and I are floored by the support
Also if you'd like to edit out my name from the OP, that would be cool.
Here are a few links you can put in the OP tho if you want-
Boarding the plane in Wuhan
Honkus shouts out Tigerdroppings on Dr. Oz
Honkus and family return to US (ABC World News Tonight)
Honkus checking in from quarantine (GMA)

still in quarantine for another week or so, but I'm glad I'm nearing my 14th minute of "fame". Will be happy to blend back into obscurity and get back to the day-to-day

You have nothing to worry about. My Vietnamese wife of 25 years is far more than I can handle already.

Hey Honkus, Matthew McCoy on Fox News just said you guys have Zumba classes and stuff in the quarantine. Are you participating in any of these?

I thought you were back home by now. Blood clean?
Posted on 2/7/20 at 1:31 pm to Jimmy2shoes
Blood test results wont be back before we leave. Everyone here did pass the nose and mouth swabs administered when we arrived by the CDC
However they issued a 14 day quarantine last friday, because the CV has been shown to lie dormant for up to 14-days. Being monitored 2x/day and we are set to be released next Tuesday 2/11 if we remain symptom free.

Just showed a buddy of mine the Dr. Oz clip. My buddy knows that I frequent this site and knows its always breaking news.
After starting the clip, he's like, dude....I've seen that guy like 10 times on various news shows.
