I'm emailing my 11th congressional district rep.

I've emailed back and forth with him several times so I know his staffers check his email.

Didn't I take a state civil service test with you in Baton Rouge many years ago? Regardless, good luck with your situation.

Has my contact replied back, or at least acknowledged receipt?

I’d hope a 3yr old and 10 week old would be deemed worthy. Don’t want to be mean, but I could see them saying those two and your wife go and you have to say. But kids should be the priority.

hey TJ.. nothing yet, unfortunately.

LSUT--- i totally get that. if thats the case, so be it. my wife actually booked me a flight out of yichang thursday night before the airport closed... only 1 ticket was available. i would never leave them like that.

I can’t see the US not chartering more planes... you’d think the airlines would be lining up to score publicity and also recoup some lost rev for the cancellation of reg service. Will prob depend on how many sign up

I texted him after you sent the email, but didn’t hear back. I’ll follow up in the morning.

This is where I'll really need help, diplomatly speaking. I am really hoping some of the contact I've been able to make with Congressmen Scalise and Senator Kennedy can help.

I hope this works out for you. In fact, after all this is said and done, I would be interested in hearing this story.

You’d think our great governor JBE would have some contacts, right?... You know he reads TD.

honestly i brought that up in the GMA interview. especially once Trump hears more ab the situation. love or hate him he will not leave US citizens in a lurch like that.

also, i could see him picking up the tab for the us citizens flight's out. currently state department and their families are covered but regular US citizens are on the hook for the flight (not sure how much).

there's already twitter chatter along the lines "these high and mighty diplomats fly free but regular joe's have to pay?'

dont get me wrong we are willing and able to pay our share but trump would milk that publicity of picking up the tab for alls its worth, IMO

This x1000. I'm curious why the US military won't fly a few empty troop transports in to get everyone out ASAP. (Even if it means being stuck in Japan quarantined on base for a few weeks.) Unless the Chinese are worried about US military being on their territory for even the shortest of periods.

Posters on this site would cover your costs via GFM in less than 24 hours.

Don't worry about funds.

Hey honkus, Xinnián kuàilè!
We just left Hong Kong yesterday and are in Abu Dhabi. We were supposed to return next weekend but aren't so sure now. The schools are closed for an additional 2 weeks after CNY. I have to go back to HK Sunday, but the wife and kids may go to Europe or the US to wait things out for a few weeks.

Be safe!

What’s your wife’s family think of all this?

Are they disappointed they’ll be left to fend for themselves or are they understanding? I guess they really have no choice

thank you. i'm blown away at the support we have received so far. i would never ask for that, tho.

however one silver lining to this whole situations is if we get out of here my wife will NEVER be able to bust my balls about wasting all my time on TD again.

the GMA interview is set to air tomorrow they say.

i also spoke with liza lin from WSJ who is supposed to be writing an article on our situation.
