That's a far different position from declaring that the action should be illegal.
For what it's worth, I'd rather buy them a beer or crack rock than I would a burger. Homelessness must suck, and being made more aware of your plight by being healthy and fed must suck more.

Help those with a job and teach them a skilll so they can move up in life
Some with mental health issues you need to bring back long term locked care facilities.
It is like those opposing abortion but unwilling to fund orphanages. I grew up when they still existed and some were government supported but many were supported by the folks that have all but disappeared like the Masons and the Oddfellows.
The answer is not more police or prisons (I am fully against private jails) but to bring back the facilities that dealt with the issues.

Ronald Regan was not a Democrat and this is his legacy for shutting facilities down thinking they would save money. Old school Republicans knew you had to have some things that were inefficient but needed as they understood we are all children of God. Modern Republicans (leadership, not rank and file) are all about doing what the bean counters want for short term only.
