Any recommendations for complete home automation systems (i.e. thermostat control, alarm system, lights, etc.)?

i'm ghetto.

i have a few x10 devices around the house and usually only buy a single device for a single purpose (like a remote & dimmer for my outdoor deck lighting)

Control 4.

Just had it installed and it seems to work well.
You can eliminate some satellite receivers as well.

Also, you can aggravate your daughter remotely by messing with her lights and TV while she's trying to do homework.

Not total home automation I know, but I'm considering pulling the trigger on a GOJI deadbolt system. Supposed to ship in March, replaces your deadbolt with a display that works with your cell phone to unlock the door. As long as the cell is on your person you can set it up to just stand next to it and it unlocks.

Can also send text message to family, friends, repairmen, etc. and they can have temporary access that you can adjust how long it is good for.

Also has a camera built in that can send you a photo of whoever it is that accesses it, and a full activity log that can tell you how long someone is at your house.

Must be a really expensive system for someone to upgrade from Mustang to a GTR.

I recommend Lutron RadioRa2. We sell this where I work (you can't get it at a Lowes or Home Depot) and I am certified to program the system. I also have this system in my home and I love it. I am going to be adding a thermostat and garage door controls in the next couple months.

With this system you can go as big or as small as you want. One main repeater (main brain) will hold programming for up to 100 devices. If you have more than 100 devices then you add a second repeater. The entire system will max out at 200 devices. One repeater covers up to 2500 square feet. There are lamp dimmers, table top keypads (5,10, and 15 button), and in wall keypads (3, 5, and 7 button).

This system enables you to control many aspects of lighting, temp, alarm, shades, etc.

You can control lighting, hvac, and garage door with the system. It also has a security feature that when connected to your home alarm system when someone trips the alarm it will cause outside lighting to flash and all lights inside to come on and lock so that they cannot be turned off until you disable the alarm.

You can also integrate visor controls that with the push of a button you can open your garage door and then press another and a path of lights will come on in your home so that your wife and/or kids have a safe entry way if coming in a night.

The Ra2 system also integrates with Universal touch remotes for Tv/Movie. Not only will it control your tv, dvd players, but will also show your home lighting setup so you can control lighting and whatnot from your tv remote.

Offers iphone, ipad, and android app. You can also setup remote connection for the apps so that when you are not home you can turn lights on or off. If you are coming home and want your air or heat to be on, just pull up remote connection and do just that.

There is a timeclock feature that where you can setup scenes that will fire based on a specific time or times before/after sunset/sunrise. The timeclock is astronomical so you plug in your city, state or latitude/longitude and it will pull sunrise/sunset and daylight savings based on your location.

Take a look at the link below for more information or questions.
