This world's first system warns the driver of risks that may be obscured from the driver's forward field of vision. It can not only sense the relative velocity and distance of a vehicle directly ahead, but also of a vehicle travelling in front of the preceding one.[*] Like other INFINITI technologies such as Forward Emergency Braking it can help provide a more confident driving experience.

horseshite. i want to see a robot car maneuver into a position where its not behind a large truck or make a judgement call about driving around a stopped car and bailing into a ditch if the car behind is coming in at 70mph.

Those concerns can be easily negated by developing a autonomous vehicular communications system that shares data amongst AV's.

how about noticing a bouncing ball on the sidewalk?

how about 3 kids bikes laying on the ground in a residential neighborhood where the limit is 40mph and there are cars along both curbs?

how about a frisbee in the air you catch out of the corner of your eye?

a dog barking getting louder?

you're full of it.

in a perfect world we take every car on the road and smash them tomorrow in a giant landfill and replace them with AV cars that all run the same software.

yeah thats gonna happen.

when chicken can get this site to reliably work for more than 24 hours at a time, we can talk about moving technology off computer screens and into mardi gras crowds.

precisely.

if we cant get something as simple as a messageboard to work fullproof, i would hate to see ROBO-UBERS careening through pothole filled streets in NOLA dodging mardi gras crowds.

eta i bet the ROBO-USER would lose 50% of its sensors by the time it hit the 5th pothole.
