It's quite easy to keep up with your kid's stats. I ran a team website for my son's team for years. One of the big things everyone likes was that I could take the official game book and punch in the numbers from it and the website would automatically translate those numbers into real stats. When folks went to the site they could look at the stats of the players and team just like if you went to the Atlanta Braves website. My website was from a company called RTeamsite.com. Sadly they were recently bought out by a company called "Team Snap" and their web design is shite.

We use Team Snap for communication between all the parents regarding practices, announcements, schedules etc
Gamechanger during the game in real time for the parents that cant make it to the games. We still keep an official book as well

Maybe it was because I was use to RTSite, I just hated Team Snap. For starters, the RTSite had the look and feel of a real sports team website. I had it customized with our team colors and logo. There were a lot of cool action pictures (we had a REALLY good photographer mom on the team). There was the schedule and stats page, calendar, and the "rainout" feature where I could send mass texts and/or email to parents.
One of the best features though was I could actually do a "news article" for each game and even save the stories in the archives for years. What I'd do was take the game book and after I entered the stats from a game, I'd use the book to actually write an article on the game. My goal was to mention each kid and include a cool pic at least a few times a season of each kid with a caption about something good they did in the game. The parents and kids both loved it. I even had out of state relatives who used the stories on the website to keep up with their relative on the team. For me personally, it was like a time capsule of my sons' little league days.
But when Team Snap bought out RTSite, I lost everything. They had promised me that everything from the old site would be on the new site. But they lied.

Gamechanger does this somewhat...but I liked RTSite better for keeping stats and going back over individual games.

My nephew's been working over dutchtown youth football teams for years. I hope your youngest is in a different age group.

Youngest isn't eligible for peewee for a few months. Several nephews play for the cougars and they have won state a few years running.

I know about the sites and apps to do all this, but game stats are not something I'm concerned about with an 8U team(or any team for that matter). How they progress practice to practice means more to me. I've yet to go back and look through a score book to judge how my team performed. I know the minute the game is over what we need to work on at the next practice. 0-3 with three scorched line drives right at someone is different than 2-4 with a dribbler to short and popup that fell just behind the first baseman on a ball were late on. You can hide behind your stats, but my eyes don't lie to me.

Now this is just my advice as one youth coach to another... trust me, know your player's stats. You will be surprised what you find and learn about your team and your players. If you've got a good book keeper who actually knows how to score a book, then you're set. Knowing your players stats tells you exactly where they are in all aspects of the game and whether they are progressing or regressing. I've coached now for 8 years and (again my opinion) knowing stats is a HUGE help to a coach.

True, that's why as a coach you take what you observe in a game and couple that with the stats you get from your book. I don't know how many kids are on your team, I usually had about 12 -13. And when you've got that many to keep up with, there are things, little things, that you can miss. That's where knowing stats come in. Like I said, stats are not the end all be all, but they are a useful tool.
