Yeah. Deadliest Hurricane to date, and second most costly hurricane in history based of the current value of the US dollar. Estimated between 8000-12000 dead. Took years to rebuild.

No. But I'll give you a hint, this war took place less than 30 years before the Spanish-American War.

Franco-Prussian War, almost certainly.

They look a little too Med to be Prussian, plus the French love them some artillery (or did back then).

French.

(ETA: Crap Darth, do you not want me to be playing in these? I teach military history - or did until recently - at CGSC...)

Winner on both accounts. Those are French Artillerymen during the Franco-Prussian War.

One of my favorites, because it is amazing to see how many names remain famous to this day. How many people can you recognize in this photo from the 1927 Solvay Congress:

There are 8 countries represented here. What countries are they? Go left to right 1 through 8.

Bonus: Where are they and what are they doing there?

Britain, U.S., Australia, Punjab? (British India?), Germany, France, Austria-Hungary, Italy, Japan.

(Italy looks the most out of place.)

- Eight Nations Alliance, so that would have been the Boxer Rebellion in China.
