Wrong
6th Army was in the PTO and was commanded by Gen Walter Krueger.
But you're not far off.

What about this guy?
Who is he?
Who was his famous commander?
Bonus: Why am I posting about him?

Devers was promoted to two-star Major General in October and sent to command the newly formed 9th Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Troy Middleton. Commanded VIII Corp as part of Patton's 3rd Army. One of the best corps commanders of the war. Also served as pres of the university this board is based on.

Army GROUP. Huge difference in being the commander of 6th Army (which fought in the Pacific) and the 6th Army Group (which fought in Europe). Here, let me explain how the army was built at that time.
Division (made up of regiments)
Corps (made of of Divisions)
Army (made op of corps)
Army Group (made up of armies)
Your original answer was just "9th". And you quoted the other guy who incorrectly said he commanded 6th Army. I thought you likewise were talking about him commanding an army due to how you worded your post.
This was the 6th Army that fought in the Pacific
This was the 6th Army Group that Fought in Europe
Two totally different units on opposite sides of the globe.

Commandant of Cadets at LSU, pre-War as well.
Logged 480 days in combat, more than any other GO of the war. Made the key decision to hold, rather than evacuate Bastogne.
And looked exactly like a professor would look (heck, he was 52 when he "unretired" for WWII...)

Those are all units. The largest unit listed is "Army Group". And the largest unit that Devers commanded was 6th Army GROUP.

That's not a land mine. That's a naval mine. I believe it's a German magnetic mine.
