Name this bridge and it's significance.
I believe that is the bride in Iraqi they hung those American contractors from.

ETA: Or that Robert Maraist was the last division commander during WWII? Of the St. Martinville, Maraists.
Nope. This division did something specific of significance in WWII. What was it?

Too easy huh? My company took the Western approach to that bridge of D -1 Operation Phantom Fury.

Were they the first American unit to link up with the Soviets? They only had 86 days of combat - I couldn't find anything else particularly intriguing in their operational history.
ETA: Yeah, that's it - Elbe Day.

Cool.
When I first saw the picture the first thought I had was Pegasus Bridge in Normandy.

They were indeed. That is what they did of importance. They met the 58th Guards Rifle Div on the Elbe thus cutting Germany in two.

Those guys don't look to thrilled to be meeting each other. From what I have read, we were pretty close to going at it with them around that time - any truth to that?

Patton wanted to have a go at them but really the mentality at that time was let's get finished with this war in Europe ASAP so we can hurry up and take care of Japan.

Understand that.

Really it was not until after the war was over and the Allies were dividing up Germany that the Western Allies finally realized that "Uncle Joe" was not as nice as we thought. The division of Berlin followed by Soviet moves that eventually led to their full blockade of Berlin was really what showed that the days of being friends with the Soviets were over. Meanwhile the Germans were caught in the middle and telling he Western Allies "see, we tried to tell you".

Who are they, where are they, and what are they doing?
Bonus, what happened moments after this picture was taken?

Looks like Russian soldiers with some Nazi stuff. I guess this is after they entered Berlin?
