I went for the 1st time tonight and I really enjoyed myself. Has anyone else been and how was your experience?
Got to look at Jupiter and 4 of its Moons, Mars, and Saturn...my favorite.
Tonight they were going to check out Neptune. Pretty cool.

I was a member of the club out there in the mid to late 90's when I lived in Baton Rouge. My father and I would set our telescope up on the public nights (usually Fridays) along with other club members. I haven't been out there in probably ten years. It used to be a really great dark-sky site but the city glow was creeping in back then.
It is a great facility. Club members have discovered a bunch of new asteroids using the scope.

I wonder how many other flat, sea-level, humid, thunderstorm prone cities have observatories.
