They had a wreck and the air med chopper crashed on the bridge.
I'm not kidding.

EDIT: witness I know near the shut down clarified: Chopper had a touch and go a couple times trying to land. Looked dicey.

I-10 East on a Friday is NO BUENO. You can easily get from BR to Lafayette west bound on MOST fridays. But it’s pretty much every Friday that there’s some ridiculous delay east bound from Lafayette. Get familiar with Hwy190. It can be your best friend.

10 East looks to be closed from Ramah to Lobdell (according to Google Maps) but somehow it's still all red through Baton Rouge.
