A good teacher already knows this stuff and has adjusted expectations accordingly. You spend 9 months, full days, with these kids...if you don't know why mom isn't signing reading log you are a moron.

A good teacher knows this, a great teacher posts it on the internet.

Giving a child an outlet to express feelings is part of the job, you're wrong. I'm sure many of her students feel safe in her classroom and that's not a bad thing, no matter how you feel about it.

Yeah it is. Posting it on the internet looking for validation on what an awesome job you're doing is not part of the job.

how is this building trust when she posts their secrets all over the Internet.

Yep

ETA - and I'd be pissed if their teacher got them to write notes about their personal lives and then plastered them all over the internet seeking praise for doing her job.

Kids probably didn't even write this shite. Adults often do it to look like kids writing so they can post the shite online.

I did have a writing assignment in kindergarten or 1st grade. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

I said,"Like my dad. So I can beat him up like he beats me up."

Guess who got a meeting from the principal, superintendent and child protective services.
Taught that fricker a lesson about whipping me.

Nice pessimistic view, in line with the OT way of thinking.

You can look at it in a negative light, but the article stated she had hoped it would inspire other teachers to take the same approach. But of course, everyone has ulterior motive.

We appreciate when our daughter's teacher's make an effort with her and don't just spit spelling words at her.

As a whole, the educational system in this country is lacking. I'd rather my kids teacher teach them spelling instead of exploring their feelings.

You think elementary school kids are nose to the grindstone from the moment they walk in the building? There's time for both. I'm not saying kumbaya'ing it up all day long, but they spend a good portion of their day with this person. They shouldn't feel like they're being taught by a machine.

A third grade teacher shares student notes on the internet??

Teacher ought to be disciplined.

Heartbreaking csb: I knew a girl whose parents adopted a pair of little girls that came from a meth head home. They said at first the girls hid food around the house. I guess with the meth heads they got fed so infrequently that they learned to hoard food.
