The only person that manufactured this controversy is Mitch Landrieu, to drum up political support for the fickle minority community, who can't seem to think for themselves.
Mitch is pandering to his friends who put the bug in his ear about the monuments.

Let me get this straight you support a group who fought for states rights, but have a problem with a city exercising its right to remove statues that the residents want removed?
Its the lies and corruption that is at issue with most New Orleans residents - me being one.
And you know it. Stop dancing around the issue.

I have a problem with anyone erasing history to score political points. Perhaps we should forget about slavery too? It's not like it's really relevant anymore, right?
To your point of whether some residents want them removed, I'm sure some do, but let me ask you this- what residents wanted them removed before Landrieu decided for the minority population to remove them?
Most people didn't even know the obelisk was there before he said a word, much less what it was memorializing.

No the frick it doesn't. The lies and corruptions ain't new to the city. Now that some statues are coming down the corruption has gone too far.

You think the majority of the residents wanted the city to spend hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars to move pieces of rock? Please provide a link that states that definitively.
Why didn't we put this up to a vote then? Here's a hint, because the vote wouldn't have turned out very well for Mitch and he knows it.
Oh and I live and pay property taxes on two homes in Orleans Parish before you say anything. I couldn't care less about the actual statues. What I do care about is throwing my tax dollars away on something that has ZERO return on investment.

Erasing history?! It was a fricking statue that is being removed nobody is changing the history. The fact still remains the south lost.

That already happened. When they forgot to issue out those 40 acres and a mule.

Have you sat in a city council meeting in New Orleans? If you did and were a resident of New Orleans you would have your answer, but seeing that you haven't and are in New York you will continue to make an argument to contradict the support you share for states rights.

Man, who gives a shite
This has nothing to do with statues.
This is corruption and public officials illegally and improperly doing things with private contractors.
Whole situation is bullshite.

those who aren't from New Orleans never once came here solely to look at those statues, but now their feelings are hurt.
I won't say we go to our home in new orleans to look at statues. I will say we go there to walk the old streets and look at the old things.
I walk by Marie's grave and walk by Lee's statue at least 50% of the time I'm there. Each gets a nod. No more. No less.
I like the cracked sidewalks. I like that I can carry a nice drink around. And I like seeing the history. All of it.
New Orleans had the largest population of free people of color. I love that they ignore that. Louisiana has always had a very different attitude toward race than our neighbors to the east.

Mrs. Cantrell said no one cared before Mitch made it an issue and it shouldn't be an issue and frick Mitch he should let the council do their jobs and back off of fake bullshite causes.
Then she got in line and voted to remove them anyway because she's a hypocritical political shill who can't be trusted.
frick her. Got me all excited when she called out Mitch hard and stood up for common sense but then showed het true colors when she voted.

You're an arse and an idiot. He doesn't have another term so he is juicing up his resume to follow his mentor Morial to another Urban League position or similar.
Corruption should always be called out. I could care less about those rocks. I care about where the City is heading for my kids.
You are either a lemming or a horrible troll but I'm not going to waste my time with you anymore.

When does the majority residents want spending on anything other than fixing the roads?

So let me get this straight. The belief is Mitch did this to to cater to the blacks. I mean this has been said in so many words in this thread a few times. However you believe that the majority of the people of New Orleans who happens to be black would vote against the removal of the statues?

Actually I have. Proud alum of the best school in the Catholic League and proud Louisiana graduate of a good engineering college. I have been to more than one New Orleans City Council Meeting.
I spent 27 years of my life there before I moved for marital reasons to NYC. You can assume I have no idea what I am talking about but you're wrong.

If it makes you feel any better I watched the hearing before the vote, and it was a total shitshow (in New Orleans tradition, of course). If you did too, you'd know the statues are coming down for political, and not practical or popular reasons.

A monument to the dead of liberty place was taken down which honored both sides.
Why take down an obelisk that honored the police officers who died defending New Orleans?

It was a simple yes or no question I don't need all the extra emotional feels you tie to the question.
Next question when was the last time you attended one?
