True story here. About 20 years ago I was in the Mantazas inlet near St.Augustine with all 3 of my young kids doing a beach day. I had this little butterfly net and a sand bucket and I notice a small hole right next to the water. Well I see this little head poke out of the hole from about 10 feet away I run over to try and capture this thing in the hole I figured it was a hermit or sand crab. I am poking in the hole with my fingers and the back of the butterfly net finally I hit something in the hole and begin to bring it out(my kids are watching in anticipation) when this thing surfaces it was almost 10-12 inches long and I was like holy shite. It was a mantis shrimp I had no fricking clue about those things until I googled it. I could have lost a finger in that hole. I learned do not stick your fingers in holes where they don't belong.

I could have gone through my day not knowing those worms exist

Some life lessons are applicable across the spectrum and arrive in odd ways.

I did kind of turn that closing statement into a life lesson also. You are definitely correct sir.

If I put hundreds of them in a pot of water with crab boil will they cook themselves without me needing propane?

Caught one on opening day of shrimp season about 20 years ago, on top of an oyster covered pass. It was about 4 inches long and chartreuse colored, crazy eyes. It kept hitting the bottom of the boat and cracking the fiberglass floor. Didn't frick with that thing long!

Onto Arndt’s third plan of attack — a shrimp filled with superglue.
“I thought if it ate it, it would glue its mouth closed,” he said. “So I literally hollowed out a shrimp shell and filled it full of superglue and fed him that.”
After the first night, Arndt thought he had him. The worm ate the superglue shrimp, and then disappeared for a couple days. But pretty soon, he was back — popping out of his rock, opening his horrible maw for more superglue shrimp.

My boat sinking from a shrimp I caught punching a hole in it would definitely be my luck

Reminds me of knuckle thump competitions entered as a young baw.
