Well did the same surgery on my sister and and a friend in Lafayette back then and they are fine and I know a dozen others they have operated on who are walking around so I’d say I’m more than the exception.
And amongst all of the Dr’s I know, which is a few more than several, of all disciplines they are held in high regard.
So I’ll take your comment with a gram of salt as ultimately the only one that matters is me, and as a mid 60’s who feels and gets around like a 30 year old due to their work I’ll just thank my good fortune to knowing them rather than an anonymous poster on a message board.
If you are ever wheeled into the ER in the midst of the first of three massive heart attacks and they lean over you I hope you have the strength to wave them off. Wouldn’t want you to croak on their table.

Covid. Double pneumonia in 2021. In the hospital for four days. I was one of the lucky ones.

Several times.
Severe blunt trauma injury when I was 5 years old, my heart stopped.
Almost drowned at 6.
Parachute malfunction when I was 20.
Pulmonary Embolism 2 years ago.
There are a few more but those are the main ones.

Study abroad in Ireland. Some friends and I had hiked up some glacier carved hills south of Dublin. We go to the top and there was a 200 foot waterfall fed by stream about 15 feet wide. My dumb arse thought it would be a good idea to lean over the bank to take a picture. I slipped and fell in. The current was swift and I was about 10 feet from the ledge. We were in the middle of nowhere and it was an hour hike back to people. This was before many people carried cell phones so I was toast if I go over. I threw out my hand trying to grab the bank. My hand hit the mud and got sucked in slowing me down enough so I could throw my leg over and climb out. I happened so fast I didn't have time to think that was almost the end of me. The picture looked good, though.

When I was 18 months old I drowned. The story I was told is I was building a sand castle outside and needed water. So I take a bucket over to the pool and when I tried to pull the bucket of water out it actually pulled me in. My mother cooking dinner said she heard a voice that said go find Keith. She did find me in the deep end of the pool. She dove in pulled me out. Luckily for me she was an ER RN. she said I was black and my eye's were bulging out with no pulse. She started CPR until she got a pulse and then they rushed me to the ER where I spent the next week in the hospital.

I've had it happen a few times. Sometimes I even wonder if maybe I did actually die and somehow I just don't know I'm dead.

Fell from low blood pressure, head hit the marble countertop, then the floor. I did everything wrong, didn't call EMS, when I came to, I crawled to a recliner and put an ice pack on my neck. Within a few hours it got worse and I was loosing feeling in my legs. Called EMS and the put a neck brace on me and transported me to the ER.
MRI showed 3 badly fractured cervical vertebrae, the bone fragments closed off my esophagus, but no permanent paralysis.
Since this happened, I know 3 people who has the same accident and they died on the floor immediately. Lucky SOB I am.
