I decided not to put my name in the ring for consideration. I didn't want to take the pay cut.

Ultimately, the BREC Commission unanimously selected Corey Wilson for the position. Mr. Wilson is the current Chief of Business and Management Services for BREC. He's got quite the résumé with a JD from Harvard.

No but I guess we will now. Looks like Corey is overqualified IMHO.

Is this real... or is this going to turn out like the guy who they hired for Baton Rouge CAO who embellished his resume... I really hope this guy's resume is legit and he can do great things with BREC

I personally love the ranges BR positions have for any job opening. It is already about as obvious as you can get, but it further just screams as long as you have the right "makeup" they are looking for in a candidate they can find some way to justify any hire no matter how qualified they are. This guy has been with them I think it said since 2002 and JD from Harvard is pretty damn good. But you can be rest assured the max pay cut he is taking is a salary of $217,356

He was hired several years back as in house council to save brec from having to pay local attorneys to represent them. Turns out he could not pass the bar. So brec had to pay his salary and also pay outside council. He got a new title as McKnight chief of staff.

It looks like he’s licensed in Louisiana now.

If Carolyn McNight supported his appointment, then I’m ok with giving him a shot. I trust her judgement. It’s not the same as Broome’s “search” that turned up Troy Bell.

Has this been vetted ? Mayor Broome doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to hiring folks who claim bogus education credentials.
Besides, who in there right mind mind would graduate from Harvard Law and want to run a recreation department?

Well considering he’s African American

There’s a good chance he didn’t pay for anything at the school

So I’d say he made out pretty well
