It's 4th murder in 8 days. That's quite a good bit for a seemingly small sleepy college town. Last year Hattiesburg recorded a total of 6 homicides. Any suspected gang activity in and around the area? I travel there for work and it seems like a quaint small town with strip malls and a university.

The New New Orleans. Sounds like NOLA may be exporting some of its entrepreneurs to H-town.

East of Highway 49 is pretty rough in some places.

All I know about it is that 20 years ago, playing Hattiesburg High was not only like playing an LSU look alike:

You were playing mostly preppy white boys.

Now, Hattiesburg High is a bunch of thugs, and the rich kids are at Oak Grove and Petal.

My conclusion is that going to purple helmets cause the downfall of the town.

Tuscaloosa is up to 4 already too. Looks like the dindus love some mid-size college towns.

The article says it was two domestic disputes and the other was a murder at a night club. Unless you plan on being confronted by your second family or hanging out at club memories, you'll be ok.

A lot of Bloods in and around that area--especially east Hattiesburg. City's been in a downward spiral for a few years now, aided by a corrupt mayor and dysfunctional city council.

Yeah, all of them from the same small area of apartments, which have always been kinda ghetto.

Didn't realize crime was an issue in Tuscaloosa. I guess I've only seen the nicer areas.
