Anyone on the beach this week that can tell us what is going on?
Just be careful and obey the flags.

Teach your family how to handle a rip current and not to panic, at the very least teach them to float, and ride it out and then yell for help and/or slowly swim parallel but swimming towards shore at the same time.
Been caught in rip currents plenty. It is scary initially but once you understand the escape plan it becomes less ominous.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't be cautious starting out, but just in case. Many panic or think they are strong swimmers and swim towards shore against the current. It will tire you out quickly.

If you have kids be really careful.
Family trip so there will be kids of varying ages. Just gonna keep them close to shore and keep a close eye on them.

My current 40-60 wife might not like that if I'm doing that in front of her... and she surely won't like that if I'm going alone...

They do know what to do if they get caught.
I'd rather them not get caught, of course.

Which is why I said use caution first and knowing what to do is just in case. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
