Has Chrysler/Dodge fixed any of their reliability issues?

No.

You know you got a problem when the most prestigious, well run and best auto engineering manufacturer in world(Mercedes Benz) cant even fix you. MB took one look around their newly acquired assets and said, "heilige Scheiße!" and dumped Chrysler faster than a crab-infested lot lizard.

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

Haven’t read the the thread, but their diesel trucks are solid; aside from known transmission issues around 200k Miles. You replace the transmission and you’ll get 1,000,000 out of that Cummins if you treat it right.

Had a 2014 Jeep Sahara maxed out. Spent more time in the shop than on the road. Would NEVER buy Chrysler product!

Uh...no. Daimler acquired Chrysler in 1998 and sold to Cerberus in 2007, so almost 10 years of ownership. Daimler also provided Chrysler with the LX chassis (300/Charger/Challenger), the chassis from the MB M and G class to be used for the Grand Cherokee and Durango, and they helped develop the modern 5.7 hemi motor. Mercedes actually did a lot of good for Chrysler...especially considering all of the things I mentioned above are still being used today in some iteration. Cerberus is the company that ruined Chrysler.

On the fuel pump stuff: This is your fault. You've either put shite fuel in them or have tried modifying the fuel delivery system, which is 100% unnecessary.
More likely, he runs them low on fuel all the time, which will burn up the fuel pump in any fuel injected car. I know it's confusing, but the fuel actually cools the pump as it's running, it MUST be submerged in order to stay cool.
Dodges absolutely are not known for bad fuel pumps. GM trucks from the 90s actually are, and that was actually a wiring issue, not a pump issue.

...and it was still shite. My point stands.
My uncle has been a lifelong Chrysler/Jeep owner and gets a new car every four years. Im familiar with the brand.

I've had a '17 Grand Cherokee SRT for about 6 months and several thousand miles. So far, my only complaint is that it's never seen a gas pump it didn't like.

No. You said, and I'm paraphrasing, Mercedes merged with them, they thought it was garbage, so they sold them. None of that happened. Your point does not stand.
Also, sounds like your anecdotal uncle is happy with his Chrysler product(s), otherwise he wouldn't continue buying them as you claim.

Have a 300 since 2012. No problems. Bought a 2016 Ram Sport, fan dam tastic.I was a Honda person but left after many issues.

Statistically, they are still the bottom of the barrel in terms of reliability. They have improved just like most other manufacturers but they just haven't closed the gap.

Yeah, we all know that isn't true.

I still see plenty of Chrysler 300s, Chargers and Challengers all over the road. They must be reliable since they have obnoxious rims on them.

quote:I have one that I got before I bought a car to travel in for work. Bought the 2015 srt model brand new a couple of years back and put some miles on it pretty quick bc I didn't have my other car yet. Currently, I'm sitting at 53k miles and have had 0 problems and it runs great, gets good gas mileage as long as I'm not feeling the need for speed and is a very smooth riding car.
Toying with the idea of a challenge for funsies but it would be my daily driver and I don't want something that's gonna crap out.
Before I bought this, I had a Nissan murano and when I test drove this, it almost felt like it was driving itself. I too, wanted something old school looking, specifically a challenger because I've always loved a few of the 60s models since I started really paying attention to cars and collectible cars. However, I'm only 30 and didn't want to put money in to an original model, whether that be to restore it or pay for a restored one, unless I'm doing it as an investment and this wasn't for that.
I know these cars get trashed all the time on the OT, but take that with a grain of salt. Most of those people just hate anyways, especially on anything that's not a truck. Most American car companies have greatly improved the quality of vehicle they put out and I feel confident saying dodge has done that. I can't remember exactly what car it was back in the day, but my parents bought a Chrysler car when I was younger, a dodge IIRC, and I just remember constant problems with that vehicle. At the time, I said I'd never get a Chrysler product. That changed when the challenger came out and eventually I gave in a got one. I've been very pleased thus far. If you have any doubts, just get a decent warranty.
Times have changed though, my uncle has had his ram for forever as his work truck, and no problems except minor things that come with wear and tear. I think you'd be okay getting a dodge.

You do realize that those vehicles are now manufactured by FIAT, right ???
If you want something made in Italy get a belt or a pair of shoes!!!

I didnt say "merged".

Its pretty common knowledge that Chrysler IS garbage. Im pretty sure Mercedes could figure that out considering the quality they build. Are you suggesting that Mercedes got on a Chrysler floor and said, "my god! What a well run company! What great products you put out! We are impressed. We dont have to do much of anything here. We'll keep this venture going in perpetuity."

You think the average car buyer can spot good engineering when they see it? Bells and whistles my friend. Thats what sells cars to the average idiot. Oh, and slick ad campaigns like, "RAM tough". Could you imagine Porsche making lame arse commercials like you see from some of the run-of-the mill manufacturers?

Also, my uncle leases his cars. Even the biggest piece of shite can make it four years. Its what theyre doing at 100k+ miles thats the real barometer of quality and forethought. Or if youre smart enough to buy Japanese, 300k miles. Chrysler, and many others, still practice planned obsolescence.
