I was "couch-crashin'" homeless briefly after the hurricane but rectified that within a few weeks.
I was in the same situation for a couple of months because of that.

Yeah...in between moving into my new apartment. Wasn't fun at all seeing as I crashed in my car in the dead heat of BR summer.

Read an article not long ago on people that live in sewers. It was an entire sub-culture. Very interesting.

Left the house when I was 15 in 1973 ,hitchhiked to Key west . Stayed a year working on a shrimp boat running contraband back from The Cays . Made enough money to move back to BR and haven't been home since . Eventually got my GED and a BSN .

My friend did it for awhile around California. He just up and left one day, no one really heard a thing from him for over two years. He said it was definitely a life changing experience, he was living in the back of a laundromat for a couple weeks he said.

Crashed on the worst couch you can imagine at a fraternity house for five weeks after getting evicted

Is FTRA still around? I met a few of those guys back in the 90s in Birmingham....they were probably in their 60s. Had been on the rails for most of their lives. They were awesome and could tell some rad stories.

I meant specifically the group....there was some expose on them awhile back for harboring criminals (no shite) and then you never really heard as much about them. Haven't seen an FTRA tattoo on a long time....don't hang out with hobos much anymore either though so that may be why.
Edit-I haven't seen an FTRA streak in awhile either but probably for the same reason.
