Our family uses Frontier a good bit. The only issue we have had is their strict baggage policy. They won’t let you smuggle a fart on board without charging you for it.

I flew Frontier 3 or 4 times with no problem before a nightmare experience. Decided then that I would never fly them again, will just pay the extra for a better airline. It’s basically a dice roll. It may be fine, but at some point you’ll get what you pay for.
I’ve had nightmare experiences on every airline. Yes it’s dice roll and you gonna get got if you fly enough - paying more won’t save you

This isn’t true. Frontier has very little route redundancy nor the ability to get you to a hub and to your destination within a reasonable amount of time if shite hits the fan. That’s why you can only book your departure/arrivals on certain days of the week.
It is a roll of the dice on frontier/breeze/etc. If you have expensive lodging reservations or are planning on using frontier to get to an international connection hub for cheap, absolutely do not do it.
Just fly Delta everyone, it’s not that difficult.

I fly them fairly often through the years. I've flown Denver to New Orleans, non-stop, r/t, for $49 total. Average price is about $100 r/t though, if you join their Deal Den which is a bargain if you fly often as I do. As others have said, everything costs. But I let them pick my seat and always get an aisle seat, only carry a very small back pack, bring my own snacks, and only fly non-stop. Layovers are a dice roll. Only had one flight cancelled in 5 years and found out a week before. Most flights are on-time which after flying Southwest lately is a luxury. Seats are hard, could not fly coast to coast on them. Otherwise they are solid, imho. Just know what you are getting before committing and you will be pleasantly surprised.

If you know what you’re paying for, it’s a great deal. They do non-stops to destinations other airlines don’t, so I use them fairly regularly, even as a pilot flying for a different airline. Early flights are typically more reliable, as their route structure doesn’t allow for an easy plane swap if something goes wrong. Very low number of cancelations, but slight delays are frequent.
ETA: They also have the newest (i.e generally safest) fleet in the industry. I believe the last number I read said their fleet averaged less than 5 years old. That is remarkable.

Is it as bad as the horror stories I’ve heard??
All I know is that the hundreds of people waiting in Frontier's bag drop line at the denver airport this morning wished they had chosen a different airline.

Yes. My sons drove to NOLA to fly to Chicago and the flight was canceled entirely. We had to drive back to pick them up. They did not notify them, and the lost money on the hotel they had reserved. It was nonrefundable.

Definitely agree with you. If I choose Spirit or Frontier, I know what to expect. I do my homework and make sure I am within their fare rules. The problem comes in when people dont do their homework. Whenever Ive flown Spirit or Frontier, the crew has been extremely friendly and the experience has been fine.
