That is as ignorant a comment as I have heard in a while.
Just went through cancer treatment, Junior.
90% of non cancer issues, I get referred to another doctor, or I leave with no help whatsoever. "Come back if it gets worse.".
It would be easier to do a 5 min teledoc with a NP, so I can tell her my diagnosis and what antibiotic is needed.
Thats usually how it does in or out of office.

Yes the disrespect is at an all time high. I have practiced medicine for 15 years. Had a patient yesterday his daughter told him to stop all his medicines. She said all doctors just want to make money and addict people. He took her advice and ended up in the ICU 6 wks later. His daughter never trained in any kind of healthcare.
Had a clinic patient die because his daughter said that I don't know what I'm doing because I'm young and inexperienced while her holistic doctor has "experience". That crock arse said the cure for his illness was some load of shite.
Stopped his continuous iv med that he's been on for years (inherited patient when I became faculty).
He decompensates after a day, called his daughter who rushed him to this crock. Did some more holistic shite. Calls the clinic, where my nurse told him to go to the neatest hospital so he can transfer to us safely. By the time he gets to us, he's too far gone. Died 2 days later.
Social media and these hollistic crocks are $$$ hungry and dangerous.

It seems that since the turn of the century, most of the rock solid institutions that we grew up with, believing them to be infallible are now living in the shadow of doubt.
Everything including politics, science, and law was almost a religion and most of these are now in question.
Skepticism has become increasingly popular and I have become an acolyte.

1. You automatically assume that your problem needs a medicine like an antibiotic.
People need to understand that viral infections are FAR MORE COMMON.
Just because you have a cough, fever, runny nose, it does not mean that you have a bacterial infection. A virus is FAR more likely.
You go into the visit with the demand/assumption that you need something to treat it.
Then you get a physician/NP/PA, who absolutely must keep you satisfied so you continue to go back to them, who then prescribes you an antibiotic that you don’t actually need.
You then assume you need one every fricking time because it got better while you were taking the medicine when it was going to get better anyway.
And, yes, that mindset of patients pisses me off because it leads to problem number 2.
2. Because of the overzealous usage of antibiotics, likely for problems that didn’t need them, we have lost multiple antibiotics to resistance.
I find it funny how we have people in this thread stating how doctors simply prescribe medicines all the time while then complaining how they should just give the patients what they want medicine-wise without question.

It’s hilarious.
In this thread, we have people complaining that all doctors want to do is give medicines and then you have people complaining that doctors are telling them no and will not give them what they want.

I absolutely know it is. Its been recurring for 3 years after my chemo.
I flat out told my doctor that this shitty health care is the reason many turn to street pharmaceuticals. She agreed, but it was a week before her retirement.
So frick the patient. Doctor gets paid regardless.

This is the same group that'll injest unlabeled peptides containing God knows what and whine about proven, researched vaccinations.

An oral antibiotic isn’t going to fix that if it has been recurrent for 3 years.

No one is cooking up clindamycin in their basement.

Pretty much.
I found out if I go to the ER, I get proper meds. In fact, the ER doc suggested it as they are very aware of the horrible state of health care in Juneau. So I have learned to avoid my GP and especially urgent care.
Her "treatment" was usually referring me to a specialist, who then referred me to a Doctor in Seattle. It gets tiring watching these people try their best to avoid any responsibility.

Me: “Your child has the common cold. It will run its course in a few days, maybe a week.”
Parent: “Are you going to send an antibiotic for her?”
Me: “No, it is a virus. It goes away on its own. There are no medicines for this.”
Parent (now all pissed off): “Well, why did I come if you aren’t going to do anything?!”

I actuality bought my PCP a coffee cup with that slogan.

You are receiving a bandaid that forces you to keep seeking medical care.
That is actually a major problem with our healthcare system.
You need to see someone who will actually eradicate the infection or, by proving it cannot be eradicated, get you on a standard treatment to keep it at bay where you don’t have to go to the ER over and over again.

Nah, we're just now realizing that most people in the world just suck.

True, which is why my doctors have been so disappointing.
Good thing for the ER doc, though he once sent me for a 110k mediVAC because he misunderstood the MRI.
The terrible HC here is legendary.

This is the number one, undisputable heavyweight champ indicator of the collapse of a society. Once the populace loses faith in institutions its over. And why I make my money in the US but neither keep it or myself in America.
And loss of faith was already there, but Trump absolutely built his brand on destroying institutions. Elections have consequences.
