Trying to figure out if I should head out to my family's house in Lafayette or ride it out in Houston.

If you can leave, just leave. Rather be safe.

To be fair, it looked pretty outrageous at the time. Especially the rainfall amounts which I think was over 50" for Hoston at the time IIRC.

let's hope the 50" remains outrageous

We need to be prepared to offer a hand to Texas regardless what effects it ends up on Louisiana. Texas looks like the models have been pretty consistent with them taking the majority damage from this storm but I'm concerned for W. Louisiana too and maybe all of SE. Considering how fast it intensified overnight, this thing could be a major problem for Louisiana too if it gets knocked back into the Gulf...

Euro staying pretty consistent with its previous runs thus far. Landfall is 48 hours out and within 60 miles NE of the landfall predicted 24 hours ago.

Should just be heavy rain, moderate wind, and potential flooding in Houston, right?

My family's beach camp is on the NE tip of Matagorda Bay... not looking too good right now.

I thought the same last August and ended up leaving my home in a boat. Never imagined it would actually happen but it did. Just get out now, please. You're proving nothing by staying.

Then you aren't too bright and will just be putting emergency personnel at risk

Are there areas of Corpus Christi that aren't "low lying"?

Doesn't seem like a whole lot of elevation anywhere around there.

The NAM currently has 27ish inches in Houston over the next 84 hours.

ETA - The Houston area, I should say.
