My dad died as a young man (35) way before he should have and left a wife with 3 kids under 8 at the time with me being the oldest.

My biggest regret is not really getting to know him as a man since he worked his butt off to take care of us, often 6 days a week and having all the stuff around the house to do that I was too young to do on his day off.

Maybe that is why I got so attached to my wife's dad who was born just 1 month later than my dad, but lived to be the ripe old age of 84 before he passed. Father's Day has been hard on my wife for the past 8 years now.

To all the Fathers out there, Happy Father's Day. To all the folks with fathers who're no longer with us, keep them in your heart.

Lost our Dad a month ago, just 6 months after my brother (SamuelClemons)
I know they are enjoying aggravating the hell out of each other today!

My condolences. It's never easy losing a loved one, especially if they die suddenly or tragically. Those are the hard ones emotionally.

If they had a long term illness that was robbing them of a full life and had them feeling like a burden on the family, then it's still not easy, but many times, almost a relief that they are no longer suffering.

I've lost family both ways and the latter is much easier to deal with.

Yeah I’m grateful he is at peace. He had pulmonary fibrosis.
