Let us silence the cries of death, no more wars! Since we need bread, not guns. Let the abortion and killing of innocent lives end. May the hearts of those who have enough be open to filling the empty hands of those who do not have the bare necessities.
Tonight we acquire a fundamental right: the right to hope. It is a new and living hope that comes from God. It is not mere optimism; it is a gift from heaven, which we could not have earned on our own.
In this night, the Church’s voice rings out: “Christ, my hope, is risen!”. This is a different “contagion”, a message transmitted from heart to heart – for every human heart awaits this Good News. It is the contagion of hope: “Christ, my hope, is risen!”.
Dear brothers and sisters, Indifference, self-centredness, division and forgetfulness are not words we want to hear at this time. We want to ban these words for ever!

The closed captioning for the Spanish reading of John 20 was disgraceful. Los Angeles, Star Wars, etc. I am probably changing services from the National Cathedral.

As Pastor Luter said, the stone was rolled away not to let Jesus out, but to let Mary and the others see that Jesus had been raised! Just as we are surprised today on Easter to find our church buildings empty, so too were the first Christians surprised to find the tomb empty. Let's get out there, in word and in deed, proclaim the living Lord of our lives. Jesus was raised from the dead this day and life will never be the same. Hallelujah!
