Some state government departments didnt have offices to go back to because they were leasing prior to 2020. So now the state is going to have to pay for all these people to go back to the office so Landry can be a kiss arse
In what, 42 months, the federal mandate will vanish (it never really materialized) and the morv will be back to tele work because it makes more sense.

would you take a cut in pay to work from home?
I don't work from home, but my wife does. I think depending on you commute and certain tax write-offs, you could still net more money working from home even with a pay cut.

What tax write offs do you think you get for working from home?

Why is there even a possibility of a state worker being able to work from home? I thought our tax dollars went for useful things like building roads
Hard to build a road working from home
You think the State runs an in-house construction firm?

For some, they would come out ahead doing that... gas and commute time in traffic and auto wear and tear and tires, cost of lunch, clothing costs/wear on clothing (as opposed to shorts or sweatpants and a dress shirt put on if a teleconference call is necessary)...

The state probably would've been better off culling the useless ones and allow the efficient workers to work from home. Win-win.
The thing about this... the thing that COVID really kind of exposed in every kind of workplace, is that the middle-management class is just assumed to be a necessary thing to prod people to actually work... except people worked without those people hanging over their shoulders. So who is useless in that scenario?
Then there are the people who've mastered the appearance of always being busy doing something... do actually do little. And then the people who are actually just unfocused and always busy and flustered but not as productive as others who are judged to be "lazy" because they do what they're supposed to do efficiently and never complain or miss deadlines... so "they must not have enough to do!!" Office cultures are filled with weird behaviors and judgments.?
Read the book "The Four Hour Workweek" for a former workaholic "helicopter boss" telling the story of how he learned to relax, let his employees be all they can be and rewarded them for results, and his business skyrocketed as a result.

So this is only about you?
No, I am confident other people would like to know how their tax dollars are being used.

Shouldn't they know if their money is well spent?
Not sure what you’re getting at here.

unless a company/government agency does not have offices for workers to come to you won't convince me of the savings of WFH. I know in the private sector some allowances are made for people working from home for utilities and internet etc...why do you think that wouldn't become the case for state workers WFH? that would negate the savings some of you are touting.
I have worked from home since 2011, with 5 of those early years being for the state. I have never once been given any allowance for utilities or internet because I work from home
