Best advice ever. First part is most important. My replacement for my beloved Lily was literally a stray that showed up at my back door. We named him Vinny and I couldn't have picked myself a better dog. He ended up choosing us at exactly the right time.

I feel your pain man. We put my 11 year old boxer down a few months ago and I'm still sick thinking about it. He had developed a large tumor that was compressing his bladder and not allowing him to urinate. It was either put him down or have his bladder relieved twice a day. I went with the logical choice and put him down. What hurt so bad was the fact that he still acted like he did when he was a puppy. Up until we put him down he was feeling fine, oblivious to what was happening. At the vets office that morning he wanted to play the entire time and was bouncing around like a fool. We were just preventing the inevitable. That's the only way I can make myself better about it.

No reason to be sorry.

I am sorry for your loss man. That's rough.
