Thanks for this
Yet still high enough intellect to have reading comprehesion...unlike yourself.
Look fig, you are the one who started throwing insults at people. It wasn't I. Sorry you are a fig.

The kit has a purpose. It is simple -- the saddle on a road bike is typically made of hard plastic and is not very comfortable to sit on for extended periods while riding.
So there are no comfortable aftermarket seats? Seems like someone would take advantage of that market.

Not really. Unless you want one of those big padded ones for the fats.

So, all cyclists are douchebags with a seemingly phobia fear of something called "the fats".
So much so, they will forego a comfortable seat only because they are for "the fats".
Strange behavior.
Strange indeed.

I think you’re projecting. Big arse seats are for big asses. Which equals fats. It’s science.

They bitched and whined to get dedicated lanes and trails... still ride in the fricking street. It should be legal to run over protesters and cyclists if they won't get tf out of the way.

Have an upvote. That made me smirk a bit.

Comfortable no, more comfortable yes. The saddle market is similar to the driver market in golf, people buy a lot of them. I have at least a dozen different saddles and my wife probably the same and have had far more over my time and taken out a huge number of loaners. It is huge business.
The problem is every body is different and even relatively light cyclists put a lot of pressure on very small areas and cause pain and ischemia, especially if you are in the saddle for 4+ hours.
My favorite saddle is my newest and I may be in the conformation bias stage. It is a custom 3D printed saddle based on pressure mapping of my but sitting on a saddle. They are at the upper end of saddle prices ($600) and only a handful of shops around the country can do the fitting but so far so good but nothing is going to feel like sitting in a Barcalounger. If you put enough padding on a saddle to feel comfortable (like a lot of exercise bikes) if you ride on it for extended times the chaffing will melt your thighs and arse. There is more than one company doing custom 3D saddles but mine is a fizik One-to-One.
I just had another thought and will put it here instead of incorporating it above. The other issue with a saddle is any serious cyclist will ship their weight fairly often. You sit on the saddle differently when climbing, hammering on flat ground, and soft pedaling for example so it really is impossible to have a saddle that is very comfortable in all situations.
example of a custom One-to-One
the pressure sensor you sit on in fitting
you ride YOUR bike on a trainer for a few minutes in different positions and it the computer gives you a basic seat design to start with and designs the 3D map of pressure
So there is a huge OEM and aftermarket push for more comfortable saddles it has been going on for over 50 years. They are getting closer but there is simply no saddle that will be perfectly comfortable certainly not at a light weight which is also crucial.

Much better and way more in depth than "they are for the fats". Cyclists do seem to have a fear of "fats". Let the "fats" be fellas. They can't catch you. They tire easily.
Thanks. I genuinely wanted to know. I have seen people ridicule the attire before and have seen the "it is for comfort", but truly didn't know. I took for granted it was about the chafing, but honestly thought that for the money spent, there would be good options.

I would also add the shape of the saddle is dictated by how upright you ride.
The traditional road saddle tail is slightly upswept, wide at the sit bones, concave in the middle, and rises up to the nose.
- the upsweep in the back is there for when you are climbing in the saddle, it prevents you from sliding off the back.
- when you are hammering on the flats, your hips naturally rotate forward, and you are on the “rivet” or nose of the saddle. Usually only your taint is touching the saddle
- when carving turns, the long nose gives your inner thighs a place to help turn the bike.

A rare phrase in today's world. I coach juniors, and that and "chamois" sometimes pop out of my mouth, and my kids all get the "OK boomer" look on their faces. That said, most of them have never dealt with tire tubes, rim brakes, brake and derailleur cables, or even handlebar stems.
