As a physical education teacher, the “gym” teacher thing drives me nuts. Gym is a room in a school, not a subject. One doesn’t get a major in “gym”, it’s in physical education. Calling it Phy Ed is fine, PE is ok, but calling it “gym” is like nails on a chalkboard.
