What do you recommend on youtube to watch about the battle?

Went to Biloxi Cemetery last weekend to see my grandpa and two of his brothers who fought there. He only told me stories very near to the end of his life.

I remember a band called Guadalcanal Diary.

I don't recall having seen any video online that did the subject justice. If you're willing to dig in a little, I'd recommend these books pretty much starting with the most comprehensive first.
1. Guadalcanal: The Definitive Account of the Landmark Battle-Richard B. Frank
2. Neptune's Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal-James D. Homfischer
3. Guadalcanal: Starvation Island-Eric Hammel
4. Guadalcanal Diary-Richard Tregaskis (A reporter's personal account written while he was there-a grunt's up close and personal perspective. Great read.

Just google it or read a book. Why do you need a video

As am I. On episode 3 as I type this.
This is my 4th rewatch of B.O.B. and The Pacific in the last year. Can't get enough of these 2 shows. Planning on taking my 6yr old to the D-Day museum within the next couple weeks now that school is out.
I'm a huge history buff and I'm not sure why but WWII has always had the biggest pull on me as for which era I would consider my favorite.
Edit to add: The opening themes to The Pacific and B.O.B. send chills down my spine. Hans Zimmer really captured some major emotion in those compositions.

Robert Leckie has a couple of books out on Guadalcanal in addition to his Helmet For My Pillow which was source material for The Pacific.
I just finished one of his Challenge For The Pacific books on it. Pretty good read.
I've been wanting to get down to the WwIi museum to check out Road To Tokyo. I think they have an entire section on Guadalcanal.

Oh I dunno. Maybe I want to see footage of the actual battle.

It's written in an interesting style, almost like free verse. His "Strong Men Armed" is much more conventional.
