Here is something I don't understand about unions

I understand how they can work for jobs that require a special set of skills that require extensive training(i.e. pilots) but for jobs that any idiot off the street can do like work at a grocery store, I am failing to see how they have any leverage.

They are asking people to "respect picket lines" and not go shopping at places like Ralphs and Food4Less. frick that, I will go in if I want.

Hiring for grocery stores is a horrific process.

Now you know why National/Canal Villere/The Real Super Store all closed, and Kroger is no longer in Baton Rouge.

This is what killed The Real Superstore.

Unions have been neutered by HR departments. They definitely have a place, cheap management of labor, but companies have screwed themselves after decades of taking away their power.

Got exactly what they wanted, now they have to manage each individual person.

GOAT. I remember they had those big fruit murals on the walls. We used to go there a lot when I was a kid.

No, it's not. Check for pulse.... you're hired.

That person quit. Hire someone else.

Oh yeah, your first hire stole a bunch of shite.

Good hire.

I’m absolutely fascinated by the fact all these stores, restaurants, and fast food places manage to hire enough staff to remain operating full hours given the turnover. I have a Wendy’s right next to me and every time I go in (about once a week or so) I see two or three new people.

So the stores are still fully operational, with non union employees? If so, seems like problem solved.
